Museum Hopping Kinda Day

Shah and I planned to go to the Singapore Arts Museum to check out the Singapore Biennale exibition again, but it had already ended. We decided to just take a look at the other exhibitions before making an impromptu trip to the National Museum of Singapore.

Shah is really into Arts and History, so I guess it really made his day.

And I’m so glad I went with him. History isn’t my forte so when I didn’t understand certain things, I asked Shah.

It made me so proud that my boyfriend knows all his history facts. I actually don’t mind spending the whole day visiting museums with him and listening to his explanations.

I’m really glad we managed to spare some time to visit the museums and can’t wait to do so again!

USS with my Boo

Last Saturday was SCDF night at USS, and it was the first time Shah and I went together.

I’ve been there a couple of times, but this was the most excited I was. Shah said he’s never seen me this excited before.

I guess we over-estimated ourselves, cos we took all the rides without taking time to stop for a break.

Even when we were famished, we continued going ride after ride after ride. I guess that’s why when we came down from the last ride, we were both swaying and shaking. Not to mention, lightheaded!

But it was a good evening! We didn’t have to queue for the rides! The beauty of having the theme park closed down just for the SCDF members.

And it was so hilarious to see Shah so scared during some of the rides! I think it’s safe to say he screamed more than I did hahaha!

Thank you baby for bringing me to USS and taking some of the rides with me, even though you were afraid.

Of all the times I’ve been to USS, this was the most fun I had! And seeing Shah’s priceless reactions made the evening even better 🙂

Stranger’s Reunion

If you guys haven’t heard of Stranger’s Reunion, then it’s time to get out of your shell!

Stranger’s Reunion is the home of the current World Siphon Coffee Champion, 3-time Singapore Barista Champion, 3-time Singapore Latte Art Champion and ASEAN Barista Champion 2013.

I can’t testify for their coffee since I don’t drink coffee, but I can testify for their food.

After a short hiatus, the cafe reopened last year. Bigger, better and more hipster!

The interior decor is modern, with a touch of rustic from some of the wooden tables and benches as well as the wall.

Stepping in, I felt very homely and welcomed, getting a relaxed vibe from the place itself.

I went there with my Boo and I wished we had more people with us, because I seriously wanted to order every dish in the menu. Every dish sounded so appetizing.

This isn’t my first time to the cafe, but it’s my first time trying their dinner menu. And it’s just as good as their day menu!

Shahrul and I ordered the Honey Mustard Sweet Potato Chips ($12.90), Buttermilk Waffles with vanilla bean ice cream and fresh fruits ($11.90), Aburi Mentaiko Spaghetti ($21.90) and Duck Confit ($23.90).

What’s there to complain about the food? The Honey Mustard Potato Chips was actually got delicious, even though I’m not a huge fan of honey mustard. The chips actually became quite addictive.

The Buttermilk Waffle was perfecto, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Together with the vanilla ice cream, it just melts in your mouth! The berries served together, added a tinge of sourness to the sweetness of the ice cream and waffle. Yum!

I’m speechless when it comes to the Aburi Mentaiko Spaghetti. I think this is by far my fave Mentaiko pasta ever! I love love love Mentaiko and I can just eat it everyday and be happy! The dish was perfectly seasoned, the pasta was perfectly cooked, and the scallops and prawns were fresh. Just writing about it is making me drool! I need to get my Mentaiko pasta craving fixed asap!

The Duck Confit did not disappoint as well! Crispy on the outside and tender o the inside. Together with the orange-infused sauce, it gives the added omph!

We walked out the cafe, full and contented.

Stranger’s Reunion has now become one of my top cafes to visit and I think I will be heading back there sooner rather than later 🙂

Valentine’s Day

Wishing everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day! Remember, you don’t have to wait for this day to show your appreciations to your loved ones, be it b/g relationships, family members or friends. Everyday is Valentine’s Day. Not saying you have to buy expensive gifts everyday or bring your loved ones to high-end restaurants to tell them you love them. Just the simple ‘thank you’s and ‘I love you’s will show them how much they mean to you. Or a warm hug. It’s the little things that count just as much or even more than the physical gifts.

For this special day, my Boo brought me to Whitegrass for a meal. Whitegrass is chef-owner Sam Aisbett’s first restaurant venture, showcasing his distinctive and personal interpretation of modern Australian cuisine. The restaurant presents a contemporary fine dinning experience at heritage-listed CHIJMES, one of Singapore’s most iconic locations.

We were very lucky to have been able to talk to Sam. He brought out a dish which he specially made that day. Sam was really nice to explain to us the key ingredients of the dish. It was more of a Japanese-styled Bibimbap, and tasted really superb!

Sam is part of a new generation of Australian chefs who are transforming the notions of Modern Australian food with his flavor-driven approach to international ingredients with a distinctly Asian touch. The results? You get yourself a wonderful, unique and colorful meal, which you probably can’t find anywhere else in Singapore.

The first bite of every dish Shahrul and I ordered, we were pleasantly surprised. One of that was the slow roasted young beetroots, smoked eel cream, rosella jam, Tasmanian pepper berry. I wasn’t so sure about the dish since it came with beetroot, but I thought why not try something different. Turns out, mixed with the cream, jam and pepper berry, the beetroots were beyond amazing! Each dish showed how talented and creative the chefs at whitegrass are.

Chinese New Year 2017

Gong Xi Fa Cai! Wishing everyone a Happy Chinese New Year! Good health, happiness and success in your endeavors 🙂

I feel that this year’s CNY was a little quiet than usual. But nevertheless, I’m sure everyone felt the spirit of CNY.

The first day was the usual at the Lims, visiting relatives to bai nian and then heading to Grandaunty Fung’s house for a night of fun and gambling.

On the second day of CNY, we did something different to the usual CNY activities. Dad brought Tara and I to The Asian Civilisations Museum. We went to The Penny Black for brunch first before heading over to the museum.

And we went to explore the nearby Fullerton Hotel. Dad was saying that he’ll bring us there for high tea the next time since we didn’t have enough time that day.

It was my first time to the Asian Civilisations Museum and I have to say, it has definitely piqued my interest. We were only able to cover the exhibitions on the first two floor, so I’ll definitely head back there again. Maybe we should make it a family museum-hopping day and try and visit as many museums in a day.

After that, Tara and I headed home as all our relatives came to our place to gamble.

There were quite a few hiccups during this year’s CNY, but hey what’s life without some drama?

Weekends are made of these…..

Well hello again guys…Happy Monday and hope you had a great weekend.

The whole week was a mad rush for me, running around, working, trying to spend time with my family and getting some me time as well.

I met Mel and James for the Shu Uemura and Shopbop collaboration event.

The next day, we went to Botanic Gardens for Mel’s photoshoot and ended up having brunch at Food for Thought.

And for lunch, I met up with my dad for lunch at Tanuki Raw Bar.

Friday was spent with my grandma and after that, dad and I went for drinks at Bar Bar Black Sheep. I guess it’s safe to say we had a little too much to drink. I felt the effects the next morning. But it was really fun to spend time with my dad.

The next morning, I met up with Shahrul and we went to Afterglow for some Acai Bowl before heading to my cousin, Joshua’s, birthday party.

Staycation at MBS

Over the weekend, we had a mini staycation at MBS. It was a really awesome experience!

But first, coffee stop!

Our room was super hugeeee and gosh the service there was sooo good!

And Shah and I made a trip to the ArtScience Museum to see the displays at Future World.

And right after that, it was back to work. We went to Sephora ION to meet Mel and James for a SkinInc event.

It was such a long and tiring day, but I felt so accomplished that day. I had a great day with my Boo and at work. And I absolutely enjoyed myself during my MBS staycation.
